susie!

Today/tomorrow (because of this screwed up leap day thing)
is the three-year mark of having gotten the susie. Yay!

(random cute susie picture)

central standard time

So, in somewhere around an hour I turn 23, back in the same time zone
that I was born and raised in. That's about all y'all get for the "in the
last year" sort of post out of me.

Now I get to figure out something to do tomorrow besides go to work
and have sushi with my parents.

music: have barely cared to play any since I moved in

return to the land of the living

And of the wired. Today has been recover from Mardi Gras and
run around town getting a stupid cablemodem day. Stopped at
the kenner cox store and the one down on canal st, the second
one actually had one, and it plugged in and worked and is all
happy. I should in theory be on the phone less now. Also along
those lines, I apologize to anyone I called and might have bothered
with the phone last night.

So yesterday went something along the lines of "laze around,
watch parades on tv, intend to walk to the metairie parades and
end up not going" and ended with a full blown round of "hey let's
just go to the quarter." I had much fun being a teasing bead whore
who wouldn't lift her shirt. (There are pictures, I acquired a nice
pile of plastic, and ditched it later on in the evening because it
got too heavy.) Ran into Chris Bloch and Bruce Lin at various
points during the afternoon too. There were no ex-boyfriend
sightings, either. Yay!

And I have to figure out what to do for my birthday on friday,
because I don't even feel like looking at drinks at the moment.

still not wired

But I have tv to watch and the ability to get a cablemodem connected
up soon, in theory. This coming week is the Great Drinking Holiday
otherwise known as Mardi Gras. The fact that I work for baptists is
more than annoying in regards to this, and that's all I have to say
about that. Might be out somewhere, might be at my house which
is walking-distance or so from the Metairie parades.

Sugar headaches suck. And I'm out, as there is much mischief to
be caused and planned.

pieces

Slowly things are coming together. Mardi Gras season is making everything
around be busy and insane, and the parade route near my house blocks
things fairly often too. I have heat and hot water and all that fun stuff
now, deciding to screw the phone line and will hopefully have a cablemodem
connection sometime next week. Until then. Coffeehouses and work for
email and communications addiction. Anyone who feels like calling me to
waste their long distance minutes, feel free.

moved

Well, all the stuff is there, I still have no gas heat or hot water, but
that should be fixed tomorrow. Going back to my parents' in a little
bit to pick up the dog and take a shower. Yay wireless out at places.

Atmos makes me Angry.

Okay, so wednesday night, I finally got in touch with the natural gas
company down here, they set me up to get gas turned on this friday,
your deposit is 50 bucks, here's a confirmation # blah blah blah.
Thursday I call back just to make sure it's still scheduled, oh yeah,
it's fine, someone's going to be out there right? This morning my
mom heads out so that someone can be there when they turn the
gas on cause I have to work, and I get a voicemail about 11:15 saying
please call the gas company. Finally get in touch with them and:
"we have to verify that you're leasing this cause the last person
had it turned off for non-payment, so fax us this stuff. Oh we might
be able to still get it turned on today but it's not scheduled anymore
so I'm not sure". Fax stuff, call back again, get girl to go through
hoops and "we can schedule you for monday", try very hard to be
calm while complaining at girl, talk to supervisor, complain at her
and get it set up for monday, by this time it's 1:30 and my mom and
granddaddy were over in the still-cold (rochester people SHUT UP)
house waiting still. And for monday? They still won't give me a time
past "Anytime between 7:30 and 5:30, we don't schedule anything
because they do emergencies". And a different answer out of the
supervisor "We do verifications on all new accounts." which if they
did, they should have told me this when I signed up.

And of course, they're a monopoly. Woo. So maybe I'll have heat
and hot water on monday, but I've got no faith in that by now.

so far

entergy: one point, power turnon scheduled. further points witheld
until this is done
bellsouth: zero points, my apartment apparently doesn't exist even
though the place is way the hell older than I am and the power
company knows where it is.
atmos energy: negative twenty points for having no "establish new
service" number and the local number is "cannot be completed as
dialed." (natural gas)

little ball of hate. (and of course, "that's not all"TM, but not for here.)

Shiny!

I'm in the process of unpacking and washing all the stored stuff,
and found in the pile of jackets, the awesome black vinyl shiny one.
I missed it. It was too much work to unearth everything out just to
put it back in but now I have to. Wore it out tonight even. Feel
much more like myself now.
