Inside my car, that is. We spent about five hours of
this weekend fixing the air conditioner. The clutch
on the compressor (which is a bit of a bitch to extract)
was the flaky part, so I went and acquired a compressor
from a junkyard (no one would sell me just the clutch,
but I got the compressor for the price of the clutch
anyway, so yay) and we took it and various parts of my
car apart and replaced it.
August looks good. We went out on the boat last night
too, speeding around the lake is fun. I took a few
random pictures on there, too.

I was trying to describe the color on the phone to a friend
of mine the other day - so there you have them. They are a
pair of nice shiny cotton dress pants, 'flares'/'bellbottoms'
or whatever (they're pretty wide at the bottom), size 6 from
The Limited and they are kinda looseish - summer pants.
And those are the shoes the laptop wears, which I was told,
a bunch of people were talking about at my cousin's wedding.

Well, it's not exactly -new-, it's 20 years old, but it should
be fun. It's a 19 foot bayliner, in good shape, and has a little
cabin to hide from the rain or store more beer. The parents
bought it a couple of weeks ago, and after some minor repairs,
it's ready to go out. (I had said they were waiting on registration,
but I just talked to them and they have it, probably taking it out
tonight or tomorrow.)
(I swear, I'll put more content between the links, really.)

It's the stupidity. I need to find that t-shirt.
My car seriously does not like starting when it's
been sitting in 95 degree direct sunlight all day.
It's now parked in some nice happy building shade
while I soak up inside a/c. Yesterday I took her
up to my parents' house and my dad and I isolated
the air conditioning problem down to a part that's
not available without buying the entire compressor.
So now I get to start calling junkyards for parts,
as three hundred for a new compressor when I don't
even NEED that part is way too much.
This should be the first entry yall see from a new
version of MovableType, the RSS feed generation is
much much better than the version I was using, and
hopefully I won't have to use the perl-beastie of
MT-Blacklist to keep the spammers down. Apologies
for the 'new entries' spam on the feeds.

Tony Bourdain has a new show out, this time on the
travel channel. Check out this bit.
(Also, thank you Mike Felice for pointing out the Rachael
Ray commentary--porn acting connection. I had to share.)

I also found out that I got lucky with only 9 hours of power
outage last night, even if I did have to run like crazy as
soon as I got up to get to meetings, at least the power was
on in the morning.

Next time I get into a startup, it's going to be my own
company, not someone else's.
This is public enough to discuss now, I suppose. The plans
are for finding either contract or normal work, locally
and hold onto that for a while, and break out onto my own
when I've got a bit more solid of a footing, money-wise.
New Orleans is a pretty decent city to live cheaply in.
I'm still consulting doing crazy ancient C programming and
bits of SA stuff here and there for the moment. I'm going
to miss my cozy blue office.
