storm note

This site will most likely go down as soon as downtown
new orleans loses power, my email is likely to as well,
they are in separate buildings. candice0 at gmail
(and on google talk) will be up after that. I'll have
network at the house until phone/isp goes down, as far
as I know.

My cellphone charger is on my kitchen counter in Old
Metairie, so I'm trying to conserve power on it.

Back to news-watching and obsessive reload clicking.

Hurricane Katrina

At parents house, 22 feet above sea level with a generator.
Dog and I came over early to avoid the traffic. The gas
lines were getting scary by the time I left my house earlier.

This is on St. Joseph St. in the warehouse district between Camp
and Magazine if anyone happens to have a sugar fix in the area.

dead parking pass

Also, when I got back to my car, I found the thermal-printed
parking receipt I had gotten this morning and left on the dash
had gotten so hot that it turned black. I didn't think it was
that bad today, really.

five minutes

I have a student ID now. The picture is even pretty good.

I turned off the delicious auto-posting to motivate me to
finish posting vast amounts of music.

That is about all that there is time for right now.

swamp golf

So my mom calls me up this Sunday evening, to say hi
and see what I've been up to, and starts telling this
little story.

"So, we went to my mom's today, and your dad and my
brothers went out to play golf in the swamp."
"In the swamp? They have golf down there?"
"Oh yeah, it gets better though. It had just rained,
so the greens were all pretty wet and swampy still.
On the second hole, a nutria runs across the hole as
they go to tee off, and on the next one, a four foot
alligator wanders onto the green. They just kept
on playing."

I thought croquet was bad, this just takes the cake.
