So, a few minutes after that last post I splashed coffee in
the upper right hand corner of my thinkpad. After I got it
home and tried to start it again, it completely failed to
register. Took it completely apart (which was refreshingly
easy, it took about half an hour to totally dismantle it),
let it dry, reassembled, still nothing. Most likely suspect
is a dead system board. So, rather than pay 800 dollars to
replace a board in an old laptop, I've ordered myself a new,
better, more shiny one, with at least twice the battery life
of mine and several other useful things. There goes a chunk
of the "buy candice a better car" fund.
As a result of this my kitchen laptop has been promoted up
to duty past xterms and mp3s, and I got it a new sticker.
Those guys have it on the side of a building I drive past
all the time.
