straight from the gulf

fresh shrimp

My mawmaw, you see, she's as cajun as the sky is blue. This
comes with an ability to find excellent seafood for cheap.
That lovely and his friends pictured there cost $1.50 per pound,
bought a few hours after they were caught.

Boiled a few pounds tonight and froze the rest, and I'm getting
some for my freezer too. Mom came back from da bayou with about
30 pounds.

And people wonder why we live here?

Nice, I'm on a plane....

Hey, what do they call the deal when you boil all kinds of stuff in a huge pot and then dump it out onto the table and just pick away at it all night? (now that's one hell of a poorly constructed sentence)

You'll have to forgive my NW ignorance.

Mostly we boil either crawfish or crabs that way, calling it a crawfish boil for crawfish or "so and so is going to boil some crabs" for the other.

Our crawfish recipe starts out with "Open and drink first cold beer" and ends with "dump the basket out onto a pile of newspapers, and serve what's left of the beer." And yeah, you get a whole bunch of people (crawfish come live in 50 pound bags) and eat and drink beer all night.
