Goodbye 2006.
Trying to arrange plans to go out -before- midnight is really
weird. That's all I know about tonight so far. Hope you all
have a good one.
side note: Finally saw Casino Royale. A Bond not twice my age
and actually hot and badass? Excellent.

While blinking my eyes and rubbing my chin, I resolved to myself "in '07, less gin."
But the longer I pondered; I knew this was the truth.
So I resolved in '07, "just less vermouth."

At my apartment, in between gatherings for the night, finished
wrapping presents and all. Good Night!

Doing work for small companies means small company Christmas
parties. Which here involves taking up a decent sized table
in a nice restaurant for three hours with champagne and several
bottles of wine and great food. Creature count: shrimp,
oysters, snails, turtle (soup), beef (in aforementioned soup),
and pig. I think that's all I had. As the lone resident contract
over there, it was nice to get to go -and- have it be cool.

(vh1 classic. yeah, I tivoed it.)

It's supposed to be for champagne, but it's on some bottle of
overly-sweet Louisiana blackberry wine my mother has. I suppose
it's only proper to dress the alcohol for the holidays, too.
In happy news, the pothole fixing brigade has apparently
fixed my pothole. Sweet!

All I wanted was binat on a couple of ip's. I had Linux,
and I thought, foolishly, this can't be that hard, in pf on
BSD it's all of one line. Why oh why do people want to
sort out packets into named lists, then process them? Can
we not use subnets and addresses like normal people and let
the packet filtering engine figure things out? And why is
there still not a real configuration file?
music: The National: Wasp Nest
(Oh, but we have chains! And we named them to sort things!)

That's looking out at the big lights of the port of N.O.
Last night I was pretty much stuck at home, with less than
a block visibility. Tonight I ended up having to go through
Manchac to get back from Mandeville, as fog closed the Causeway.
(Let me tell you, going 80mph on the Bonnet Carre Spillway in
the fog is insane. I was just trying to catch up to traffic.)
And speaking of Mandeville, we can't get insurance for the
parents' business office up there. No one's writing commercial
policies, not even as an extension of the business insurance
that's on their house. (Not only do insurance companies screw
homeowners, they don't care about small business either!)

A friend sent me this track, which I had forgotten about,
the locals will appreciate the backing track, and the lyrics,
well, those are for the girls. Love Lily Allen.
"And no you cant have my number,
'why?'
Because I've lost my phone."
I have SO used that line. Go-cups are so useful because when
someone is being annoying like that, you ask the bartender for
a go-cup, pour your drink into it, and head to the next bar.
music: Lily Allen: Knock 'Em Out
(And I have a new camera. All I have is dog pictures so far.)

My camera-buying plans got delayed by hitting a pothole on
Tchoupitoulas under the Ponchartrain Expressway the other
night and then dealing with bent rims, so I've got nothing
shiny to post yet. Soon. I got away with only a couple
hundred dollars in damage, which I suppose is my payment to
the gods that have kept my tires from getting nails in them
driving around disasterworld since last September.
The Reggie Bush Show was cool this week. Leaping touchdowns
and everything.
