the one that got away

1967 mustang coupe

(Or why I've never liked Corvettes)

This was my dad's mustang when I was a kid. I can source
my entire car obsession back to this one car. 1967 Mustang
hardtop, manual transmission. This is pre-restoration, we
took it out of storage in 1987 or so. I can't find the
post-restoration pictures, and we sold it around 1991.
The restoration was white with deep red interior, and it
was the coolest thing ever to eight year old me.

I check every white mustang I see these days in town to see
if she's around. I really hope she didn't get ruined in
the floods, but it's actually kinda likely. Dad used to
drive her to UNO when he went back to school after the oil
bust in the 80s, and we'd only get to ride in it on special
occasions. I remember taking it fishing out to shell beach,
towing our little flatboat on the Chalmette ferry at some
ungodly hour of the morning.

More pictures.

Yeah... I only have the ones I've failed to buy so far. 1980s front-engined porsches, most of them.
