steamboat houses

the empty, it still gets me. this was a neighborhood.

Past all of this empty, (looks like the middle of nowhere,
doesn't it?), tucked away in a corner of Holy Cross in the
Lower 9th ward, lie these.

We were giving a tour to an old friend from RIT, and I wanted
to go take pictures of them for my mom, as I didn't know they
existed until recently.

Also, this former duplex I'd taken a picture of in May has
managed to get one of the nicer variety of trailer. The kind
that don't still have wheels on them, and have siding.

Wow, that is impressive! It makes the pagoda house (At Napoleon and S Sarasota)look kind of stupid.

They are kinda crazy. Both built by a steamboat captain about the turn of the last century.

I like the pagoda house though, and all that sort of assorted madness.
