west end park

shadeless canopies

Parked across the park from the conference this weekend,
and we walked through it to get back to my car. I was
struck by the odd structures, and liked this one that
came out. Took this one of Clay and got him to take one
of me, too. Note the Jackie Clarkson benches in the
background of the shots.

I've never understood the point of putting up stuff like
this that doesn't create shade, or rain shelter, for that
matter. Though the pink and green deco paint is kinda cool.

This one...I'm not so sure....in theory, you'd use something like that to support vines and other plant growth...perhaps it's being used to support a higher annual budget?

One would guess? There might have been stuff there that died in the flood, as it was likely to have been completely underwater - this is along the lake -outside- of the lake levee, where they build park structures that are submersible.

To be honest, this park is probably being taken care of by anonymous volunteers...
