Riding in a parade feels like being a rockstar in ridiculous
clothing with people on the street screaming for you.
I had the very last spot on the last float in the last
parade for the night, Pygmalion. It was a blast, we had
enough beads, I was throwing pretty much as fast as I
could get them unwrapped and detangled.

We saw a pile of the local blogerati: Ray, Ashley, Jeffrey,
Maitri, and Leigh, and a couple of other people we knew as
well. I also had a guy on a parade stand try to get my
number. My reply: "Baby, I'm riding next to my boyfriend."

See some of you folks out tomorrow night for the parades,
we should be somewhere in the garden district. I prefer the
river side, as it tends to be devoid of ladders.
Happy Mardi Gras! (More pictures.)

Street-parked on Magazine.

I love the rust on this car. And the stock wheels,
and that someone actually drives it around and uses it,
instead of putting it on a pedestal.
Still busy as hell, rescheduled parading Wednesday night,
and that's a school day. I'm gonna need redbull on that
float, forget drinking...
For your enjoyment: Krewe du Vieux pictures taken in the
freezing cold. I got lots of shots of floats but very
few of riders.

Supposed to roll Wednesday, I think last in the lineup.
The weather is gross right now.

I was going to be writing this entry offering some of my
local friends a pitstop for the parades, but we got invited
into Pygmalion at the last minute, so I will be on a float
instead. We're on float 16, so near the end of the parade
on the neutral ground side. Clay has a little more info.
But for all of the rest of the parades, if you are garden
district-ish in location, drop me a text message, I hope to
be at a lot of them.

It has taken quite some time to get to this, but tonight
I had a small pointe lesson after ballet class. My feet
feel alright, but this is hard stuff.

This Sunday was spent arguing with the exhaust on the truck.
One of the headers badly needed replacing, so after an hour
or two of un-bolting and maneuvering, all of the driver's
side exhaust was off. Pictures of the process here. Nice
to accomplish things.
Tons of stuff going on lately, my sister and her fiancee were
in town earlier in the week, and we took them out on Tuesday
to go see stuff and music and eventually ended up at Rebirth
at the Maple Leaf, caught a tiny bit of that set and I had
to drive them back to Mandeville. Julie was amazed that anyone
could draw that kind of crowd on a Tuesday.
I moved mailservers on Monday, as well, so I'm no longer running
on alpha or sparc or anything weird. Just FreeBSD on an old Dell.
So if you email me and it doesn't arrive, I have brand new spam
filters to blame it on.
Oh and tomorrow is the first day of school, and I banged my hands
up moving a sofa this weekend and writing with a pen hurts. Doh.

No caption necessary. Found in the Marigny this week.

Saw this little Karmann Ghia on Oak St tonight, in front
of an appropriately bright and shiny gelato shop.

Trying to enjoy this last week and change without homework
while it lasts, racking up hours to feed the tuition beast
and the IRS.
I swear, in January I spend so much money, none of which
I can avoid spending. C'est la vie.
