Riding in a parade feels like being a rockstar in ridiculous
clothing with people on the street screaming for you.
I had the very last spot on the last float in the last
parade for the night, Pygmalion. It was a blast, we had
enough beads, I was throwing pretty much as fast as I
could get them unwrapped and detangled.
We saw a pile of the local blogerati: Ray, Ashley, Jeffrey,
Maitri, and Leigh, and a couple of other people we knew as
well. I also had a guy on a parade stand try to get my
number. My reply: "Baby, I'm riding next to my boyfriend."
See some of you folks out tomorrow night for the parades,
we should be somewhere in the garden district. I prefer the
river side, as it tends to be devoid of ladders.

Guess I should have chosen this year to go to nola for mardi gras. Ah well, maybe next year...already got a big trip planned this year (UK in may) Glad you had a good time!

Trev, this is one of the locals' parades, usually on the first weekend. You'd have missed it if you would have come for Mardi Gras itself. :)

See...that's why I keep in touch so when I decide to go down, you can tell me things like this and I can go to the interesting parades and not the boob fests. :)

i so would've liked to have been there!
i like your costumes :)

Trev: You could manage that by doing all of the weekend directly preceding mardi gras (ie, this one.) The boob nonsense is pretty much confined to bourbon st, and largely only on the day itself.
Soco: You will have to come one year. The costumes were so huge, you have no idea.. mine came down to just above my knee and was big enough that I had a jacket and a bunch of layers under it.

It was great seeing you guys! We're over at Felicity and St Charles ourselves, in front of the bank. We don't need no stinkin' neutral ground!!! ;-)
See y'all, and Happy Mardi Gras!
