This is clay's del sol. We just bought it and are in the
long process of de-ricing it. Shown here after polishing
some haze off the paint, still much to do on her, but she
runs fine. Fun little beastie.

That one is from Pho Tau Bay in Gretna, which is my
current favorite of the batch. After Katrina wrecked
my favorite noodle place downtown (Purple Roses) and
they didn't rebuild, I had to go on a search for a new
go-to bowl of pho.
This coincided with the search for the perfect vietnamese
eggroll (the spicy kind with pork and carrots) because
the ones I ate as a kid across the river were so, so good.
Restaurant, Location, Pho status, Eggroll status:
Pho Tau Bay, Gretna, Excellent, Excellent
Kim Son, Gretna, Okay, Excellent
Pho Bang, Harvey, Excellent, Good
Pho Danh 4, Terrytown, Excellent, n/a
Moon Wok, Quarter, Good, Good
August Moon, Uptown, Okay, Okay
Jazmine Cafe, Uptown, Good for lunch, Excellent
Do Son, Mid-City, Not good, n/a
Pan-Asia, CBD, Good, n/a
Frosty's Caffe, Metairie, Good, n/a
Saigon Grill, Mandeville, Good, Good
I think these are all the ones I've tried in the New Orleans
area. Suggestions for new places to try are welcome. I have
not yet ventured into the restaurants in the east, so if you
have a favorite please say so!
Clay and I have gotten brave enough to try vietnamese iced coffee
and it is seriously awesome. Not brave enough for bubble tea.
See lunch studio for much better pictures of this sort of food
than mine. They rock, and daily food-blogging puts my
"new food" notebook list to shame. (But, I have tallied up
200 or so new restaurants since 2004.)

Skipped town this weekend, and ended up in Grayton Beach
and Seaside, Florida. Took pictures of a cute Triumph.
Rode bicycles all over town and didn't get too sunburnt.
I post these as proof that I do take pictures of things other
than cars. And I have to note, that while stunning, Seaside
and it's New Urbanism planned-ness kinda freaks me out.

We ran into the owner of this car while I was taking pictures of it.
Said he, "It's a great little car when it starts!" Swooshy.
I would post about Tomato but I don't want to post before Clay about
his own car. Those of you I have on my flickr friends' page can see
pictures of it, though.

Hello rust monster.

Meet my compressor and sandblasting rig.

Yes, I know I suck at spraypainting. Hello primer.

On the other hand, I do not suck at bondo and sanding.

Little bit better on the paint here.

Done! Goodbye ugly hole in roof!
Next major rust project: taking the ugly cowling off the
hood. And of course, all the much smaller rust holes in
the roof of her.

Some people wander the garden district and take pictures
of houses. I take pictures of cars. More here.
A little digging tells me it is likely around 1950.

Found some little 'ballerines' while searching for a pair
of sandals. They called out "Candice, we are your shoes,
take us home!'

I think someone bought some souvenirs at the D-day
museum and went a little crazy with it. They are on a
bunch of doors and gates in the Warehouse District.
testing flickr post!
