wedding pie

julie and mike and the wedding pies

So, my sister Julie got married this past Friday on the outskirts
of Boston. It was a very pretty, small ceremony, in a very big
church, and a nice reception at a historic tavern/barn.

And instead of cake, Julie and Mike decided to have pie! The
"wedding pie" they are cutting there is a boston cream pie.

I have never seen Julie happier and I wish them the best.
Hoping that they last as well as our grandparents have.

Something like that? I am wedding-ed out though, having talked my mom through this one - I see her twice a week, Julie lives 1500 miles away.

I believe that the Wifeykins and I had the smallest wedding ceremony on record ...

At the time, LA had this odd waiting period between license and ceremony, so you couldn't go right away, but had an expiration date. So she's making lunch and I happen to remember we're in the right date range after getting the license, so she turns off the burner and puts a lid on the chicken soup, we cross the Red into Bossier to the J.P., his wife is the witness, and it's done. We even asked for the short ceremony. Then we go home and she finishes making soup.

That was 1995 ...

Congrats to Julie! I hope she's at least as happy as we've been!

You know, I think they still have those rules. At least three days?

Every catholic wedding I go to, it makes me want to get married by a judge more....
